Children Flash Card Games (Day 3 Progress)

If you repeatedly play one games to your kids, there will automatically bring the toy to you. Just like my son, when its around 7pm he will bring the box of flash card to me. This time he responded to nine pictures.

"CAR" (was his favourite, he said it the loudest), "DOLL", "COW", "CAT", "DUCK, "SHEEP", "PIG", "DOG" and "BALL".

He was so happy when he shouted "CAR". I guess boys will always be boys. Car, excavater, trucks, Helicopter and plane will always excites him.

Since we introduce my daughter VCD and DVD when she was 3 years old, she will watch her Mickey Mouse, Barbie and Dora cartoon non stop. I am a little bit worried, she is hooked to the TV.

Please delay in introducing cartoon to your children, there will not stop watching ever........

Maybe we need to discuss more about TV and children in the next blog.

Children Flash Card Games (Day 2 Progress)

My son really takes his sweet time in giving response. He do pay attention to the cards, he listens and observes but he will not repeat the words after me. The only picture that excites him this time was the picture of a cow. "COW" he shouted.

Boys are more action oriented, he prefers to arrange the cards back into the box one at the time. It is so different with my daughter, she wants to spell out all the words and prefer to study the pictures on the card.

Children Flash Card Games (Day 1 Progress)

Today around 7pm after his dinner (my son), we played another round of flash card game for 5 minutes. Only 5 minutes because his sister was distracting him.

I showed him 15 cards and he responded to two cards, a picture of a bath tub filled with water "bath" and "duck". He can relate to the two pictures because he loves taking his bath and he always watch Donald Duck Cartoon with his sister.

Hopefully tomorrow, there will be more progress.

Another games which children loves is playing with stickers. My daugter and son were all giggles when i stick the star shape stickers on their nose, hair, cheek and knee. You can teach them about body parts while sticking the sticker on them. They will love it.

Children Flash Card Game

When i was rearranging my book shelf, i have discovered two boxes of unopened flash card which i have bought at Manila last December 2009.

Flash card is an amazing tool to enhance visual stimulation in children. My daughter is not only recognizing the pictures but spelling the words out. It is also a good way of communicating with your kids.

I really wonder if there is any differences in brain development between boys and girls. I played the same flash card game with my 1 year 6 months son but with a much simpler picture. His concentration span only lasted for maximum 1 minute interval and his interest is only towards his favourite animal, dog and cat.

Maybe repetition and determination is the key to improve the concentration span of toddles. I will try the same game for a week and will see how it turns out.

Children and Books

I always made a point to bring my kids out for a treat. This afternoon, i brought my kids to the rides, a book store and a veda blue ice-cream treat. At the mall, my son was so extremely grumpy that i could not even wait for my turn to pay for the books.

We went home for a nap and after dinner we rush back to the book store and bought the books (because my daughter insist to have it), but it was worth it, they love the tiny little books.

I do not mind buying books for them, books are knowledge.

I believe every parents out day should read to your children at least once a day.
